An error occurred while saving the comment We are unable to accept photos that are not taken within the Parking Mobility App, or uploads or emails of pictures not taken within the Parking Mobility App because when taking the photos in the App we are collecting all data necessary for a report as our law enforcement partners require. We also ensure photos cannot be altered, thus preserving the chain of evidence, a requirement of our law enforcement and judicial partners. Without this security measure, the evidence collected would not be admissible in court. Also, if the photos we collected resided on your phone or other device at any point and not originally on our servers, a defense attorney could subpoena your device and hold it for inspection in the event of a trial.

An error occurred while saving the comment In order for us to accept a report there must be at least one photo clearly showing the vertical sign marking the space. This s a requirement of our judicial and prosecutorial partners. Sometimes you may have to take the photo from an angle in the case of larger vehicles.

An error occurred while saving the comment How we engage a community is based on many factors such as the size and demographics of the community; number of people reporting; frequency of reports; etc. there is not a ‘magic number’. In short the more you report and encourage others to report, the faster we can engage your community.
An error occurred while saving the comment That is correct. Your reports and the reports of others is critical to getting your community on board. Only local law enforcement can issue a citation for an accessible parking violation so, until we get your community on board, a citation is not issued from reports.
An error occurred while saving the comment William, The first step is gathering data by using the Parking Mobility App to report the violations you see. We first have to have that data before we can approach your community leaders and prove to them that there is a problem of accessible parking abuse in their community.

An error occurred while saving the comment Depending on your state DV plates alone may or may not be sufficient to use accessible parking. Unfortunately there’s no consistency across the country. Parking Mobility strived to educate people on the need to only use accessible spaces if there is an access need.

An error occurred while saving the comment Only a uniformed officer can require someone to show a placard belongs to them. With Parkung Mobility you can report obvious (not suspected) violations of the law which frees law enforcement partners to investigate those other issues.

As previously stated, all photos and reports must be taken within the Parking Mobility App. We are unable to accept photo uploads of pictures not taken within the App. When taking the photos in the App we are also collecting all data necessary for a report. Without this security measure, the evidence collected would not be admissible in court. Since the only photos we accept reside on our servers, they can subpoena them…we have many. Further, we discourage anyone from reporting while they are operating a vehicle. An error occurred while saving the comment All photos and reports must be taken within the Parking Mobility App. We are unable to accept photo uploads of pictures not taken within the App. When taking the photos in the App we are also collecting all data necessary for a report. An error occurred while saving the comment James,
When you report you receive an email that tells you exactly what we do with that report. Remember that EVERY report is important to helping end accessible parking abuse...whether a ticket is issued or not. What happens with reports depends on where the report is made. In our partner communities, reports are processed by our local law enforcement partners and a citation is issued (mailed) to the owner of the offending vehicle. The person cited can pay the fine or be offered an opportunity to take an educational alternative that teaches them about the importance of accessible parking spaces and the laws protecting them. Don't worry, if the owner of the vehicle isn't responsible for the infraction, they have an opportunity to explain that to the court and the citation can be reissued to the responsible party. This program has proven to reduce accessible parking abuse by as much as 80% in less than two years.
Reports in communities that have not yet partnered with the Parking Mobility program are even more important. There has never been a comprehensive study of accessible parking abuse. This means there is no reliable data that we can use to educate local decision makers on the need for better enforcement and education efforts. We gather that data from people like you who use the Parking Mobility App to report violations. Once we have significant data in a given community, we provide that data to local decision makers to get them to deploy our program.
While we understand the desire to 'punish' an individual offender, the reality is that we very often must first educate community leaders before we can get to that point. If we don't, we'll never be able to solve the problem. Remember, if you’re not willing to get involved, you can’t expect your community to. Parking Mobility’s goal is to end the global issue of accessible parking abuse, unfortunately this means that sometimes individual issues aren’t quickly solved; it takes a long term, sustained effort.
Every report is important, whether a citation is issued or not because every report helps us educate someone....whether it be the offender or your local decision makers. That's why we say, "the solution is in YOUR hand."

An error occurred while saving the comment Evangeline,
We do not list our partner communities on purpose. When people don't see their city on a list they don't report and every report is critical to solving accessible parking abuse. In partner communities a ticket is issued and we educate the violator. Reports in non-partner communities are even more important because it is those reports that help us gather the data critical to educate community leaders and get them on board with the program. If we can't get a community on board we can never issue tickets and can't solve the problem. That's why we say, "The solution is in YOUR hand!” Every report counts. You will get an email after your reports that tell you exactly what we are doing with your reports and whether or not a citation is issued. You can also login to your account online and see what happens with your reports. Bottom line, every report counts...everywhere.An error occurred while saving the comment LupeMarie,
If the report is in a partner community, the violator receives a ticket. If the report is in a community that has not yet partnered with Parking Mobility, your reports are EVEN MORE IMPORTANT. Without your reports we can't educate your community leaders, get them on board and we will never be able to educate violators. An error occurred while saving the comment Denise,

We do not suggest reporting if you feel it isn't safe to do so.

An error occurred while saving the comment Sorry to see you go, but if you don't report we can never get the data necessary to get your city on board. We've explained why we don't list our partner communities. There is no evidence that we are an 'email collector' and have never (and will never) use emails for any purpose other than you having full access to the data you help collect.

We reply to every inquiry and if you have inquired, please let me know what process you used so I can make sure we don't have an issue.
Unfortunately San Diego has not yet partnered with the Parking Mobility program but you can change that! Your reports using the Parking Mobility App are the only way to gather the data necessary to educate San Diego's's leaders on the extent of accessible parking abuse and the need for our full program which has proven to reduce violations by as much as 80% in other communities. Without your reports San Diego will continue doing what they always have about accessible parking abuse...practically nothing. The solution is in YOUR hand.
Thanks,
Mack Marsh

An error occurred while saving the comment Walt, its true that a violation is a violation but to ensure we collect all of the necessary data as well as protect the chain of evidence, photos and reports must be submitted through the Parking Mobility App. This is a requirement of our law enforcement and judicial partners.
