I forgot to mention that about half of the disabled vets are legal, which leaves the other half illegal, not displaying placards or emblems, so feel free to write ‘em up. They’ve had plenty of warning.

Hello, I’m disabled vet and feel the same way. That’s why they changed the law as of Jan, 2022..All DV plates must show either the handicapped placard or have the blue handicapped wheelchair emblem on their plates I for one am glad they did it, as you stated, there’s too many disabled who aren’t mobility impaired. The fine for first offense is $500-$750, after that it is $500-1250 plus up to 50 hours community service. The amounts are close to what I quoted, plus or minus $50.

Hi, I'm just dropping by to add my two cents as a Disabled Vet. I understand that you may believe that if there is no visible ailment/disability, then said DV's shouldn't park in those spots. However, not all disabilities are visibly seen. I also have 2 children with Disabilities that require they have a placard, but they aren't visible to the eyes. Do I agree that some veterans missuse it? Absolutely. some not all.

In most stated DV plates do not automatically allow for disabled parking unless they have the international symbol on the plate at least in my state.

If you’re in a state that does allow it, then they’re legally allowed regardless of condition (which is none of your business).

Depending on your state DV plates alone may or may not be sufficient to use accessible parking. Unfortunately there’s no consistency across the country. Parking Mobility strived to educate people on the need to only use accessible spaces if there is an access need.
