what about people who are harassing legitimate handicap parking citizens? how can we report them when they leave before police can arrive?
Most police in Oklahoma will not even fill out an informational report or will say it's a civil matter whenever someone is following you around or harassing you about having valid handicap parking if they are gone by the time the police arrive.

That's why Parking Mobility was developed to discretely report vehicles parked illegally in an appropriate, nonconfrontational manner. It is not appropriate or even possible to report a person and any users that confront individuals in any way will have their accounts immediately terminated.

I have seen this issue pointed out in several posts. While I am severely disabled & it is obvious now, I have MULTIPLE illnesses, several of them invisible. Just a few are Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Degenerative Disk disease, Arthritis, Sciatica, and more, including a rare brain disorder that causes my body to produce too much spinal fluid, which builds up on my brain. Some of the results of this are cognitive impairment, severe dizziness, & blindness. (I am almost legally blind, & this illness can cause complete blindness or severe impairment) I have gotten more dirty looks than I could ever count, parking in these spots. Even though I’ve had my placard now for about 7-8 years, & my doctor harassed me to GET one for almost 15 years! I refused for years because I didn’t feel like I was disabled enough. But now, even though I use a wheelchair 75% of the time, I STILL get dirty looks & nasty comments, even though it’s obvious I’m disabled. My husband can be unloading my wheelchair & I have actually been accused of using it as a ploy to park in disabled parking! I’m also now called lazy, liar, fat, etc., & even though I know I am legally & physically entitled to park in these spots, these people still make me feel bad. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, don’t say anything unless you know FOR SURE, 100%, that a person isn’t disabled! I know I see people who I know are not, but keep my mouth shut unless the person is running. (Sorry, I’ve never seen anyone disabled who runs! If they do they don’t need handicapped parking!) Just be careful...you don’t know what is going on inside someone’s body.

I get this when I’m on my Harley trike. I carry disabled veteran plates on all my vehicles with Marine Corps designation. While Texas disabled veteran car and truck plates have “DV” in the number, motorcycle plates do not nor do they include a handicap symbol. People often don’t see the “Disabled Veteran “ on the bottom line of the plate. I calmly point it out to them and it usually then leads to a pleasant conversation.

Ask them where they got their medical degree at.

Unfortunately people take it upon themselves to judge others who have a legitimate need for accessible parking but may have a 'hidden' or non-apparent disability. That's one of the reasons we developed Parking Mobility to provide a nonconfrontational solution. If you are confronted inappropriately or ever fear for your safety in any way, contact your local law enforcement immediately.
